Our 14-year-old swimming genius, Timilehin Olaiya, has once again made waves, securing an incredible 3rd place finish at the 5th Lagos Open Water Swimming Tournament held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) Jetty in Falomo, Ikoyi.
Competing in an 8-kilometer open-age race, Timilehin demonstrated extraordinary endurance, skill, and composure standing out as the youngest participant in a highly competitive field. His remarkable performance earned him admiration from spectators and fellow competitors alike.
The Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr. Lekan Fatodu, praised Timilehin’s achievement, describing it as a testament to his talent and dedication. He also highlighted Timilehin’s growing list of accolades, including his stellar performance at the 8th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.
This latest win is part of Timilehin’s preparation for his upcoming Open Water Competition in Gabon, where he aims further to secure his status as a rising star in swimming.
