Earlier this month, Mental Health Awareness Week 2023 was marked across the world, and as a school invested in ensuring students maintain positive mental health, we hosted two mental health awareness events — one at our Anthony campus and the other at our Lekki campus. The event at the Anthony campus was titled “Anxiety: You and Your Emotions,” and it featured guest speaker Chindinma Nwobi, a licensed clinical psychologist.
For our Lekki campus, the event was titled “Anxiety: Find Your Brave,” and it featured guest speaker Chinelo Nkennor, a seasoned counsellor and mental health advocate. The two speakers share tips on how to cope with anxiety and encouraged our students to find their own courage in the face of challenges.
Both events were well-attended by students and staff. The feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive. Many students said that they learned a lot about anxiety and that they felt more comfortable talking about mental health after the events.
The school is committed to providing students with the resources they need to maintain their mental health. The mental health awareness events were just one part of the school’s efforts to promote mental health awareness and support. The school also offers a variety of other resources, including counselling services, support groups, and educational programmes.
