The Information Centre / Library in Greensprings School is a storehouse of knowledge and diverse fields, definitely one of the best libraries in Lagos.
Lekki Library
Other than books (fiction and non-fiction), online resources covering science and technology, humanities and the social sciences, there are research materials and bibliographies chronicling different eras. National and international dailies, magazines/periodicals, guides and reference services are available for students, staff and parents.
Apart from cataloguing and classifying books and other materials, students’ textbooks are usually bar-coded at the beginning of each session in the Information Centre.
Students have sessions in the library where they are introduced to the rudiments and they get on with the different sections. In conjunction with reputable publishing houses, Book Clubs are provided for students at generous discounts in areas like classics, mystery, science fiction and general interest. There is also an annual Book Fair, a week-long event organised to promote the reading culture culminating in a costume day where the entire community dress up to assume favourite book characters.
Notable authors and budding writers are usually invited to share their success stories with students, in the past, eminent literary icons like Mabel Segun, Professor Akachi Ezeigbo, Geraldine Iheme (Big Brother Housemate), Odili Ujubuonu and Debra Ayis have honoured the school’s request to be part of the event.
Not withstanding the reprographics section, a unit in the Information Centre, there are other distinct sections accommodating the following:
- Pre-School Library
- Elementary Library
- Secondary Library
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) Library.
With one of the best libraries in Lagos and fit for purpose learning environment, students always look forward to going back to school.
