Enterprise Week 2021: Our Young Entrepreneurs Smile to the Bank

It was a laugh all the way to the bank for our budding entrepreneurs as our Anthony campus held this year’s Enterprise Week. This event ran for five market days (May 19 – May 25), during which different items were sold to members of the school’s community, and the students made profits. The Enterprise Week is in line with our school’s 5th core value — entrepreneurship. And according to Miss Stella Utomwen, the business enterprise teacher who facilitated the event, the week served as an opportunity for the students to practice what they have been taught in class and hone their business acumen.

While the majority of the items sold during the week were sourced by the students with help from their parents and the teacher, some of them were also crafted by the students themselves. To make the week successful and minimize losses, the student had earlier done market analysis and feasibility studies to determine the needs of members of the school’s community. The products sold during the market days include stationery, oil perfume, hats, bags, mobile rechargeable fans, jewellery, scrunchies, rings, wrist washes, Ankara materials, bracelets, stockings, among others.

The funds used in executing the business ideas came from the students. Therefore, all proceeds also went back to them.
